Kevin Smith is currently the envy of Star Wars fanboys everywhere after revealing he got to tour the set of the saga capping Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
Talking to IGN about his upcoming movie Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, he mentioned calling in a favour from Episode 9 director JJ Abrams to visit the movie in production.
Whilst he was given free rein to wander the backlot of sets, after talking to various crew members, he was told there was one set he had to see, but Smith wasn’t convinced.
“There was a scuttlebutt about the set there at Pinewood [Studios]. They’re like ‘you have to see this. When you see it, it will melt your mind.’” Unsure if he should let his curiosity get the better of him, Smith decided to consult with Abrams, “So I ask J.J., ‘they keep telling me I should see the set.’ He’s like ‘don’t. It’s the last shot of the movie.’”
Currently little is know of the plot, and I’m sure Smith now knows more than most about what goes down in this final chapter of the Skywalker saga, but that’s quite some restraint he’s showing.
Quite what a set alone could tell you about how one of the biggest movie franchises in history will wrap up poses it’s own questions, but one thing’s for sure, December 20th can’t come soon enough.
