WoW Classic name reservation opens

Ed Willey

Veteran MMO players rejoice, WoW classic is almost upon us where-upon the real grind starts all over again.

If you’re chomping at the bit to get back to “real” pre-cataclysm Azeroth, Blizzard is helping you get one step closer by opening up name registration right now ahead of the launch proper on Mon 26th Aug.

To get involved you’ll need an active WoW sub or game time on your Battle.net account, and can reserve up to three names in advance of the portal opening up. If you’re aiming for max nostalgia you might want to get in it ASAP.

Blizzard is also helping to fuel the memory feels by using its forum to prompt old guildmates to get in touch, the amount of re-connections and heartwarming stories is already going strong, so it’s worth heading over and taking a read if you used to play with a group.

WoW Classic sees the game return to a state many thought previously lost to time or relegated to unofficial servers running slightly dodgy code. “World of Warcraft Classic is a faithful recreation of the original World of Warcraft. Combat mechanics, original character models, and skill trees all contribute to a truly authentic experience.” so says the official website. Several of the game worlds regions were transformed with the Cataclysm expansion so anyone who joined late will be in for a treat with the original map restored.

Will you be bitten by the MMO bug once again and return to the World, of Warcraft?
