News hive Buzzfeed has broken a story that says Laeta Kalogridis (Shutter Island, Alita: Battle Angel, Altered Carbon) is currently hard at work on the first script for a potential trilogy based on the much-loved video game series.
Back in April, whilst at Star Wars celebration, Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy hinted that things could be moving in that direction “Yes, we are developing something to look at,” when question directly about developing KOTOR for the big screen. “Right now, I have no idea where things might fall.” You can see the full but brief video interview with MTV News below.

Unfortunately, we have no idea if this will get past the draft stage, as currently the only scheduled releases past Episode 9 is the new trilogy from Game of Thrones showrunners Benioff and Weiss, of which the first movie isn’t due out til 16 Dec 2022.
Until there’s more official word on the project we’ll just have to dig out our old copies of the 2003 game and imagine what could be. And there’s always The Mandalorian to look forward too.
