Todd Phillips “Joker” MIGHT Upset Some Fans

Az Joyce

In somewhat of a ballsy move, director Todd Phillips has said the upcoming Joker movie starring Joaquin Phoenix, “Doesn’t follow anything from the comics” during an interview with Empire Magazine.

Fans finally have the answer of how much, if at all, the movie will follow the comics, and unfortunately for some, that answer is solidly not at all. Obviously this is going to be extremely divisive, but personally, I like that it’s going to be a totally fresh take on the Clown Prince of Crime. Phillips is all too aware that some fans are going to be upset stating “We didn’t follow anything from the comic books, which people are gonna be mad about”.

This version of the Joker has been created completely by the team behind the films vision of the character and how he came to be. Philips also stated that Joaquin Phoenix was always in mind for the role and said “We had a photo of him above our computer while we were writing. We constantly thought, ‘God, imagine if Joaquin actually does this”. If the trailers are anything to go by, I think Batman’s greatest foe is in perfectly safe hands.

I guess we’ll all have to wait and find out on October 4th when Joker open’s in theatres!
