Venom sequel hunts new director

Ed Willey

With Spider-movies doing big business these days it’s no surprise Sony is keen to push forward with the sequel to 2018s anti-hero movie Venom. Shooting is due to start later this year, with Tom Hardy back in the title role as alien symbiote host Eddie Brock, but director Ruben Fleischer is busying away finishing up Zombieland 2, so who could take the reigns?

Three names are currently circling the project, Andy Serkis, Travis Knight (Bumblebee) and Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes). All have reportedly met with the studio with a front-runner yet to emerge.

It may not be a bad move on Sonys part to get someone new in the director’s chair, as while the first movie did ok at the box office the critics were less than kind in their assessment of the Spider-spin-off.

Venom 2 is due to burst on to screens 2nd October 2020. Let us know below who you’d like to see take on one of Spideys greatest foes below.
